Introduction

Breast lift with implants (augmentation mastopexy) combines reshaping and elevation of the breast with implant-based volume enhancement.

This procedure is not simply about increasing breast size. Many patients choose relatively small implants to restore upper breast fullness and cleavage while maintaining balanced proportions. Larger implants may also be selected where increased volume is desired.

One of the most important aspects of planning is deciding whether the desired result can be achieved with a breast lift alone or whether the addition of an implant is likely to produce a more balanced outcome.

The procedure typically takes three to four hours and involves reshaping the breast, repositioning the nipple–areola complex, and placing implants to restore or increase volume while improving breast shape.

Patients usually stay one night in hospital.

In the majority of appropriately selected patients, Dr Raymond offers augmentation mastopexy as a single-stage procedure, allowing one operation, one general anaesthetic, and one recovery period. Dr Raymond undertook dedicated fellowship training in single-stage augmentation mastopexy and, where appropriate, is able to offer this approach to carefully selected patients.

In some patients—particularly those requiring a very large lift, selecting larger implants, or with complex asymmetry—a staged approach may provide greater control and reduce the risk of complications. This involves performing the breast lift first, followed by implant placement at least six months later.

Although augmentation mastopexy combines two procedures, the objective is not simply to perform both operations together. Success depends on carefully balancing the amount of lift with the size of the implant to achieve a stable result over time.

Careful planning focuses on the relationship between breast shape, skin quality, implant size, and long-term support. A key part of the consultation is determining whether a breast lift alone, breast lift with implants, or a staged approach is most likely to achieve the desired outcome safely.

Measurements, clinical photographs, implant sizing, and discussion of scar patterns are all undertaken before surgery is planned.

Scar patterns are discussed during consultation and are described in more detail on the Breast Lift page.

Most patients:

  • Return to non-physical work within one to two weeks
  • Resume light exercise after four weeks
  • Gradually return to full activity over six weeks

Patients receive post-operative garments, scheduled LED light therapy, scar care guidance, and ongoing nursing support throughout recovery.

  • Bleeding or infection
  • Delayed wound healing
  • Implant malposition
  • Capsular contracture
  • Asymmetry
  • Changes in nipple or breast sensation
  • Difficulty breastfeeding
  • Dissatisfaction with size or shape
  • Need for revision surgery

Because augmentation mastopexy combines two procedures, the risk of wound-healing problems and revision surgery is generally higher than for breast augmentation or breast lift performed individually.

These risks are discussed in detail during consultation. Further information is available on our dedicated Treatment Risks page.

Pricing is provided as an all-inclusive estimate incorporating surgeon, anaesthetist, hospital admission, implants, post-operative garments, routine follow-up appointments, scar care products, LED light therapy, and ongoing nursing support throughout recovery.

As a guide:

  • Breast lift with round implants: $20,000–23,000
  • Anatomical implants: add approximately $2,000
  • Fat transfer (where indicated): add approximately $3,000–5,000

A personalised written quotation is provided following consultation. All treatment options, implant choices, and associated costs will be discussed before proceeding.
