Explore all of the necessary resources and information in preparation for your first consultation with Dr Andrew Raymond.
It is a privilege to be part of your plastic surgery journey and we look forward to sharing this opportunity with you.
This information is provided to let you know what to expect from your first appointment and to answer some questions you may have about our process. If you have any questions prior to visiting us, please don’t hesitate to get in touch by phone or email.
When you book your appointment you will be provided with a New Patient Registration Form, Privacy Consent and Photography Consent. Please review and return these documents at least one week prior to your appointment. This will allow us to provide the most streamlined experience possible and avoid delays on the day.
You do not require a doctor’s referral to see Dr Raymond but it is often beneficial to have one. It will enable you to receive a Medicare rebate of $78 towards your consultation fee.
Additionally, many plastic surgery procedures such as breast reduction, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and certain other procedures are eligible for partial Medicare and health fund coverage, for patients that meet certain criteria. A doctor’s referral is needed to access this coverage. Please forward your referral to us with the above documents, or request your doctor to send it to us directly.
You are welcome and encouraged to bring a friend or family member along to your consultation.
As part of the consultation process, we obtain photographs of relevant parts of your body. This may be done prior to you seeing Dr Raymond, to assist in identifying your concerns, illustrating treatments and in some cases simulating possible results. You can learn more about the Vectra XT 3D Simulation System here. If you do not wish to have any photographs taken, please let us know.
During the consultation, Dr Raymond will ask about your medical history, the concerns you have and your goals. He will then perform an examination. For all female patients with breast or body concerns, a female nurse will be present during the examination. Male patients may have a nurse present if they wish.
After the examination Dr Raymond will discuss treatment options with reference to your concerns, goals, and if relevant your inspiration pictures and your pictures. You may be shown pictures of past results for illustrative purposes, or be provided with pictures of the results you can expect, using our latest Vectra 3D simulation technology. At any stage during the consultation, you may ask any questions you have. Initial consultations last from 20-60 minutes, depending on your needs.
Everyone is given adequate time to fully discuss their concerns and their treatment options, and ask any questions they may have.
Following the consultation, you will be provided with any relevant treatment quotes and options for dates. There is no obligation or pressure to proceed with surgery following your first consultation. In fact, we encourage you to take your time and consider all options. Once you have had time to consider all the information provided, you will have the option to arrange a second consultation for further discussion at no extra cost.
If you are ready to proceed, a date for treatment may be booked. Prior to any cosmetic or major reconstructive procedure, we arrange a preoperative consultation to finalise details and provide you with all the required information, post-operative garments and scar treatments.
The fee for an initial consultation varies between $220 and $320, depending on the nature of your concern and how long the consultation will be required to go for. The exact fee will be advised in advance when you book the consultation. Usually, consultation fees are payable on the day, though for some types of consultation a deposit of $100 may be required at the time of booking. A rebate of $78 will be provided by Medicare if you have a doctor’s referral.
For all surgical treatments, quotes will be provided prior to booking. These quotes will include our surgical fee, as well as estimates and advice on what can be expected from the hospital, anaesthetist and any additional required services such as imaging and pathology.
Depending on the type of treatment and your level of health insurance coverage, we may be able to bill your insurer for the majority of the cost of treatment or may require upfront payment with you then claiming any applicable rebate. We consistently work with our selected private hospitals, anaesthetists and product suppliers to provide competitive pricing without ever compromising on quality or safety.
We also promise to never hide the cost of unnecessary extras and ‘gifts’ in the cost of your care. Rather, we put focus on providing the highest quality surgery, post-operative garments, scar treatments and care at an accessible price.
If you need to change or cancel your appointment, we request that you provide at least two business days' notice. Of course, we understand that life is unpredictable. If there are exceptional circumstances for a late change, please let us know so that we can work with you.
If you are unable to provide two days' notice, reschedule more than once or do not attend your appointment without notice, we reserve the right to decline future bookings or to take non-refundable prepayment prior to rebooking.
